What is an occupational therapist?
An occupational therapist is a type of health care worker that helps to find ways for others do things that are important to them.
What goals do you typically work on in occupational therapy?
I typically work on the following goals during online occupational therapy sessions with school-aged kids:

Learn new ways of printing, cursive writing, typing, and/or using Read Write Google

Develop skills needed for handwriting and typing (i.e., visual, and fine motor skills)

Use toys or materials to promote an efficient pencil grasp and two-handed typing

Use technology to make written output easier

Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No, you do not need a doctor’s referral to access private occupational therapy; however, you may need a referral for insurance coverage. Please check with your insurance provider.

Is occupational therapy covered by OHIP or my benefits?
No, OHIP does not cover private occupational therapy. I no not offer direct billing to insurance companies. As this is a service provided by a Registered Occupational Therapist, you may have coverage for occupational therapy through your insurance or extended health benefits.

What is virtual occupational therapy?
Virtual occupational therapy is the remote delivery of occupational therapy services through telephone or web-based platforms. I use an encrypted video conferencing platform to deliver online occupational therapy services.

Who do I see for virtual occupational therapy?
I see school-aged children who have difficulty with written output (i.e., handwriting and keyboarding/typing).

What is your service location?
I offer virtual occupational therapy for school-aged kids across Ontario, Canada. I offer in-person occupational therapy for kids in the South End of Guelph. Clients need to be permanent residents of Canada and living within Ontario to enlist my services.
